Make it the day you choose to take extra special care of your special someone and treat both of you to an extraordinary day. You can have the entire day be special, not just a couple hours in the evening. Start with a special breakfast - eating in can be just as fun as going out somewhere. You can get some fresh squeezed orange juice to go along with some special cereal or muffins and take some time to read the newspaper together or sit and talk. If you have to work, then take some time during the day to call each other and send some romantic text messages. They can be a fun interruption to an otherwise long day.

Meet somewhere for lunch and pretend you're on an secret rendezvous. This will make it much more special that any other ordinary lunch meeting and make it a fun date instead.  Then take some time to plan the evening ahead of time. Make sure you have reservations at a nice restaurant that at least has cloth table coverings. Have an extra gift along rather than just chocolate. This will show that you didn't just stop into the grocery store on the way home, but that you've been putting time and effort into the relationship. And don't forget a nice card. When you sign the card - stop - don't just sign the card - add some lovely comments and finish with a quick look into the future to remind each other that you're in this for the long haul.
